On December 2nd and 3rd, Madison's State-Qualifying Oral-Interpretation team made its way to Mitchell, South Dakota for the State tournament. Under the coaching of KJAM radio announcer, Matthew Groce, Madison qualified in 5 of 7 categories. Addy Meyer performed her piece How To Ride a Motorcycle (Badly)  by Clint Snyder in Serious Reading, Elizabeth Studer presented What Can We Do by Melissa Moore in Non-Original Oratory, Hannah Aldridge put on When You Trap a Tiger by Tae Keller in Storytelling, Grant Hasleton and Calvin Martin performed The Lore of the D-Ring Binder by Elijah Sams in Duet, and Hannah Meyer, Addy Meyer, and Elizabeth Studer presented Happy Holidays by Jim Gaffigan in Readers Theatre. Taylor Harms received an alternate ranking at Regions in Humor, but decided to join the State team as moral support. Grant also received an alternate ranking at Regions in Poetry.

All Madison entries received a Superior ranking at the State-level, with Calvin and Grant's duet being one away from a Superior with Distinction (a perfect score). Congratulations to Madison's State Oral-Interpretation team and congratulations to the whole team on a successful season. We're all looking forward to what next year brings for the performers.
