Chloe

Chloe Sue Ann Murray has been sort of an elusive person to me the last bunch of years. She had gone to school at Madison Elementary for a few years with me and my classmates, then she moved away. Middle school passed, then half of high school. Until the junior year, when she made her return to South Dakota to rejoin the MHS class of 2021. I was very curious to learn about my classmate I hadn’t interacted with for about 6 years- which is why I was delighted to be able to have the chance to interview her for this spotlight.

On August 23, 2003, Chloe entered the world. She was born in Iowa but then moved to Madison, SD when she was one. In 5th grade, she moved back to Iowa to live with her Grandma. While living in Iowa, she was a varsity cheer captain for her school. But not only that, she also ran junior and varsity cross country. And as previously mentioned, she just previously moved back to Madison during the 2019/2020 school year. That’s a lot of moving around!

Chloe has many interests and passions. Her favorite color is light pink, and in her free time she likes to watch her favorite show Shameless, she also really enjoys art. Chloe is also a little bit of an adrenaline junkie. She enjoys fast-paced driving sports such as snowmobiling and drag racing. In fact, one of the things on her bucket list is to snowmobile in a foreign country such as Greenland or Iceland. Speaking of foreign countries, Chloe says if she had the chance to live in one other country for a year, it would be Africa. When I inquired about this, she told me how interesting she thought the culture was and wanted to experience it first hand.

One of the things that stood out to me while I was interviewing Chloe was her voluminous family. She informed me that, “Family get-togethers are always packed. There’s so many of them,  I usually don’t even know a lot of them!”. But there is one person Chloe is very fond of, her grandma. She told me, “My grandma is my favorite person and my BFF.” She enjoys watching Dr. PhiI, baking, and cooking with her. She also told me how her Grandma has always been there for her and would always talk to her whenever she needed it.

When she’s finally done with high school, Chloe wants to pursue a career in teaching elementary. There are a few reasons she wants to be a teacher. She has always babysat for her family and other people, which has built-in her a love for kids. Also, her grandparents were teachers, which has had an impact on her. She also mentioned possibly being a biology teacher, due to her interest in biology and evolution. In 10 years, she sees herself hopefully living in Minnesota and using her time off work to explore all parts of the U.S. she hasn't seen. One thing’s for sure, whatever Chloe Murray decides to do with her life, she will pursue it with passion and certainly have a successful career.
