Senior Spotlight: Andrew Jones

Andrew Thomas Jones is 17 years old and lives in Madison. Andrew is one of three children; he has an older sister, Alyssa, and a younger sister, Abby, who is 13. The Jones family takes a family vacation almost every year. Andrew's favorite place he’s ever been is London. Along with it being his favorite place, he said, if he could live anywhere it would be London because the food and atmosphere is the best thing he has experienced.

In 10 years he sees himself with a family and a house, but he doesn’t ever see himself stopping snowboarding or playing soccer. These are two activities he is very passionate about - ever since he was a kid he was either kicking the ball around or out on the snow. The one thing Andrew said he would recommend to everyone is “snowboarding because it’s fun and entertaining.” Speaking of passion, Andrew isn’t so passionate about heights. Andrew hates the feeling of his stomach turning and feeling unsafe.

Although Andrew lives in a small town in South Dakota, he thinks that he wouldn’t be able to live without his truck, because he can get to places with it, sleep in it, and live in it if absolutely needed. While living in a truck seems sad and lonely, I’m sure he’d have his favorite movie and meal, Grown Ups and lasagna, with him. On the topic of food, Andrew said the food that described him is monkey bread. Why? Because it’s sticky and hard to pull apart but when you eat it, it’s sweet. This relates to him because last year, he was going through a sticky situation and he kept pushing through and now that he’s out of it, it’s a sweet ending.

Andrew said if he could be any character in a movie he’d be the transformer, Sam, because of how smart he is.  The superpower he would want is to stop time so he could freeze in any good moment. Andrew said if he had a YouTube Channel, his content would be hunting because he finds it entertaining.

Andrew is currently a senior at Madison High School and works at Prostrollo’s as an assistant mechanic. His favorite thing about school is knowing that all the teachers are here to help him and he can ask any of them for help. His favorite subject is math because he likes the progression of the problems. After high school he plans to go into the Air Guard and have a career in something with technology.
