Senior Spotlight: Tyler Wardner

This humorous Madison High School student describes himself as Michael Scott from The Office because, “He makes his friends laugh and likes to have fun”.

Seventeen-year-old Tyler Paul Wardner was born March 21st, 2003 to Sara and Dan Wardner. His family has grown since then, now having a younger brother, Logan; a yellow lab named Maggie; and a cabochon named Max. Tyler is involved in a few activities at MHS including playing on the boys' tennis team and being a member of the band. In band he plays the tuba, and sousaphone which roughly weighs 18-50 pounds!

A favorite memory Tyler has from high school was freshman year. In the spring, they got to travel to Rapid City for state tennis, and compete with many other teams. He made many friends and had fun spending time with them playing a sport they enjoyed. Though they “didn’t do very well, we still had a fun time.”

A fun fact about Tyler is that he loves to read books about horror stories, specifically his favorite is The Shining. He also enjoys the adventurous movie franchise Pirates of the Caribbean and said he would want to be Jack because it would be fun to be a pirate, and you would collect lots of treasure. As a kid, he watched a lot of the show Wipe Out, admitting he would love to be a contestant.

When asked which subject in school was his favorite, he didn’t hesitate to reply with math. Specifically, he enjoys algebra and calculus but is not a fan of geometry because he believes it is harder to understand. After high school, Tyler would like to major in mechanical engineering at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology in Rapid City. In 10 years, he hopes to have a house, a car, a good job, and eventually start a family. One thing on his bucket list is to one day travel to Europe to experience its historic cities and cultures.

Tyler is a bright student excited for the future, and can’t wait to see where life after high school takes him.
