What to do over Winter Break

Coming up soon, students are going to be heading off to winter break. Some people may have adventurous trips to Mexico or Disneyland planned; however, many folks will be at home with just their families. Not having any plans for the holidays can leave people a little stressed, but not to worry. Here is a list of fun activities you can do over the winter break to keep busy.

Due to the COVID 19 pandemic, proceed with these activities safely:

Visit the Zoo

Going to the zoo can be a very different encounter going during the winter than going during the summer. During this winter, the zoo will be less crowded thus allowing you to follow safe social distancing practices. You are also more likely to catch some animals that enjoy the cold such as penguins or polar bears.

Host a Movie Marathon

A planned evening of watching a movie can be extra enjoyable on a cold winter day! Choose a favorite theme or category, grab some popcorn and candy, your favorite blanket and pillow, and snuggle up on the couch. Enjoy the movie and relax.

Go Tubing or Skiing

Grab your favorite sled, tube, or skies and head over to the largest hill you can find. This can be a fun activity to enjoy with your family or friends. When you finish, you can even enjoy some hot chocolate in the cozy indoors.

Have a Spa Day

Pamper yourself or others with a calming foot soak in the tub. Finish up by giving yourself a manicure or pedicure. You can also serve a spa lunch with mini sandwiches and fruit.

Go Bowling or Swimming

A trip to your local swimming pool or bowling alley can be an inexpensive way to get your family off the couch to burn some energy. You can do this activity for hours at a time while not getting bored.

Go the the Library or Read a Book

If it is extra cold outside, but you still want to go out, go to the library. You can read, borrow books, rent movies, or search the web on the library’s computers.
