Senior Spotlight: Sydney Bezenek

Sydney Ray Bezenek is an 18 year old senior. She lives in Madison with her parents, Sharon and Matt. She also has 2 brothers, Austin and Joey,  who she loves and looks up to.

Sydney is very good at writing, challenging herself with AP Comp and AP Lit, but isn’t a slouch in athletics either. She is very good at power lifting- she competed her entire high school career. To stay fueled up, Sydney loves to go to Olive Garden, her favorite restaurant. She especially loves the Chicken and Gnocchi Soup.

Some of Sydney’s other favorites would be the color yellow, and the show Money Heist. She struggles to name her very favorite movie, as there are too many to choose from. As stated above, Sydney is very good at writing. This talent stemmed from her love of books and reading, her favorite being A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J. Maas. Sydney could not live without music. It can both hype her up for lifting, or destress her after school or work.

Speaking of work, Sydney has two jobs, one at Prostrollo's as a receptionist, and one at KJAM as a board operator. Sydney likes both of her jobs, since they allow her to play music and get her homework done. In school, Sydney has learned many things, most importantly though, that it is important to keep learning, and that there are always opportunities to do so. She plans to go to Southeast Tech, in Sioux Falls, for their LPN/RN program, to start her college journey, but doesn’t intend to stop there. Sydney would like to eventually get a masters degree as a psychiatric nurse practitioner.

Sydney likes to think that Patrick from Spongebob best describes her as a cartoon character. If she could be anywhere, Sydney would live in Greece, for the warmth and beauty. Sydney would also love to travel the world, going to as many music festivals as possible in a hippie van with all her close friends. Sydney’s super power would be super speed, allowing for her to be in really good shape. With $5 million, she would donate to mental health organizations and give money to her family and friends.

In 10 years, Sydney sees herself living in Kansas City, married, being a psychiatric nurse practitioner with season passes to the KC Chiefs and the Jayhawks too. Sydney is a very well rounded and kind person. She has big plans, and should achieve them with her talent and hard work in all the things she's involved in.
