Senior Spotlight: Isaiah Klockman

Let’s meet Isaiah Klockman, one of many bright seniors at Madison High School. Isaiah, full name Isaiah McCartney Klockman, was welcomed to the world on January 2, 2002, 4 hours short of being a New Year's baby. He was born in Virginia, but has moved around an awful lot since being born. After his birth in Virginia, he has also lived in Nevada, South Carolina, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania. He lived in Pennsylvania before he moved to South Dakota, and he would consider South Carolina to be his home state. He currently lives in the Madison suburbs, along with his family. He has two sisters, Araya and Olivia, and one brother, Josh. His family also includes his father and step-mother, John and Mary, and his mother Melissa.

Isaiah is quite the unique person, and has many interests and is involved in many things. Also, quite unlike many other seniors, knows exactly what he wants to do after he graduates. Isaiah’s favorite color is yellow, along with white. His favorite food is Totino’s party pizza, simply because it is easy to make and tastes great. What else could you ask for other than that? His favorite TV show to watch and re-watch is the original Top Gear, and his favorite movie is Avengers: Endgame. On to the more scholarly side of things, his favorite book to read is “The Count of Monte Cristo”. Isaiah’s favorite subject in school is history. History is always interesting and no matter how hard one may try, it is impossible to learn everything in history. That is one of the reasons that Isaiah loves it so much. He loves reading the stories that history has to tell, and finds them very interesting and knowledgeable. He is always searching for more history to read and learn about. In his free time he also enjoys to read, run, play piano, and play video games. In addition to being a great distance runner, Isaiah is also great at snapping, and can do it quicker than anyone else in the entire school. Isaiah also has a dog named Baloo, and loves to spend time and play with him.

As mentioned above, Isaiah has many interests. One of his biggest interests is his love for running. He has worked hard and has practiced running distance in preparation for his senior cross country season, and even recommends running distance. He says “It can be challenging at first, but I’ve learned many lessons about my ability to do things from simply running.” His favorite memory from running cross country was his final race ever, where the team ultimately prevailed and barely made state. Isaiah also played tennis for Madison High School, and he was part of the team for four years. Another one of his interests is in history and geography, specifically Germany. He says that if he could move anywhere in the world, he would move to Germany. Berlin specifically interests him from its rich history, and he also wants to explore and drive around the Autobahn and Nurburgring. Another one of his interests is the internet, or rather what he can find on the internet. The internet is one thing that Isaiah says he cannot live without, as he uses it daily for everything that he needs or simply wants. It provides a “plethora of knowledge and entertainment”, as stated by himself,  and without the internet his childhood would be a “whole different life for me”.

Currently, Isaiah works at the state-renowned Dairy Queen in Madison. There he is a very proud Dairy Queen chef, a renowned stocker, and also a grease cleaner. As much fun as he has working there, he doesn’t plan on working at Dairy Queen for very long. His intentions and plans after he graduates high school are to serve in the Navy. In the Navy he wants to either develop software or be involved in cyber security, or possibly follow in the steps of his father in air traffic control. Dating back to his great grandfather, all the boys in his family have served in the Navy and he is eager to become the next in this line. However, before he goes into the Navy he plans on attending DSU and working at Dairy Queen. When he graduates he will serve in the Navy for as long as possible. In ten years, he would like to see himself in the Navy, preferably creating software for ships.

Isaiah Klockman is a very unique senior at Madison High School, and is eager to graduate and start his next adventure. He knows exactly what he wants to do with his life, and has worked hard in his high school career to be successful after he receives his diploma. He has been involved in many different activities throughout high school, and has learned much from them and grew greatly, both physically and mentally. His favorite high school memory is working on all of the play productions as part of the tech crew, most notably the Annie musical during his freshman year. Isaiah Klockman, while having a great time in high school, is ready to move on to the next chapter in his life.
