Knives Out - A Movie Review

Everyone, prepare yourselves for this modern “whodunit” murder mystery that will enrapture all who see it. Though it was released November 27th, Knives Out is only now coming to the Dakota Cinema for our viewing pleasure. Though a date has not been determined yet, there have been requests and confirmation that Knives Out will indeed be arriving at our local theater at some point in the coming months.

When distinguished murder mystery author, Harlen Thrombey, dies on the night of his 85th birthday of an apparent sucide, resourceful detective Benoit Blanc is summoned to the Thrombey estate to investigate the mysterious circumstances of his death. There is no shortage of suspects within Harlen’s estranged family and staff. Disputes over his publishing company, fortune, and estate are all motives for Harlan Thrombey’s untimely demise, but detective Blanc is on the case to find the cunning killer.

Knives Out is an immensely entertaining film that have several big names in the cast including Daniel Craig, Jamie Lee Curtis, Chris Evans, and Toni Collette. The movie pulled in $279 from the box office and a score of 97% with Rotten Tomatoes. Knives Out is incredibly enjoyable with building suspense and never-ending plot twists that leave moviegoers in quiet contemplation as they figure out who the killer is before the answer could be revealed.

I very much enjoyed this movie and would recommend it to anyone who loves a classic “whodunit” mystery, guessing games, and anyone who appreciates seeing their favorite actors on the big screen. Everyone I have talked to about this movie has said that it was certainly a great movie to see in theaters. Mrs. Gonyo herself was an avid supporter of having Knives Out debut in the Madison theaters and can affirm that this movie is worth your while in seeing.
