Senior Spotlight: Gavin Ronk

Gavin Michael Ronk was born on March 29, 2002. Although he is one of the youngest in the class of 2020, he has a shoe size of 13 and an immense height of 6’1. Because of his amazing build, he played defensive tackle and is a proud member of the MHS football team. Gavin, along with the rest of his team, competed in state football twice in his four years of high school. Coach Johnson nicknamed him “Gronk” on the field, and Gavin is now well known by this name, not only by classmates and teammates, but by people all over the state of South Dakota.

Gavin was born in Sioux Falls and moved to Madison not long after. He is the son of Julie and Matt Woldt. Gavin is a proud and protective brother over his two younger siblings, Brooklyn and Tayton. He is a loving grandson of Russ and Peg Ronk, as it is at their house he spends most of his time.

Gavin describes himself as fun, loving, easy to get along with, and a good listener. This is probably why he wants to attend SDSU and do something with counseling. Gavin hopes he will have a stable job in the counseling field after college, enabling him to get married and raise two kids.

When Gavin isn’t running into deer with his truck, he is hanging out with his friends. Gavin loves playing video games, being wild, and living free. One thing Gavin will take away from all of his experiences at MHS, is to always push through because things are harder before they get easier.
