Senior Spotlight: Marissa Kearin

18-year-old Marissa Jolaine Kearin states that if our school did senior quotes hers would be, "I’m here for a good time, not a long time.” After hearing her say that, I know she isn’t going to stay in this little town for very long. In ten years, she hopes to be living in a bigger city so she can make more money and fulfill her dream of being a pediatric dental hygienist. She hopes to start her own little family of two kids, one boy and one girl. Family is important to Marissa; she loves her family of four very much. Her mom, Jamie, is a saucy lady, Jason is definitely the life of the party, and sister Caitlyne is a loving, but sassy girl, a lot like her mother. One thing Marissa is really good at is taking notes with an assortment of colorful pens. Her love for these pens came from her mom, Jamie.

Marissa and her family often enjoy eating at Pizza Ranch, where Marissa works and strives at making her favorite pizza, the Stampede. Her reason behind liking the Stampede is there is so much that goes on just the one pizza. While on break, she does avoid eating the Stampede; she prefers potatoes over any of the pizzas. If there happens to be waffle fries and mashed potatoes on the buffet when she gets a break, she becomes overwhelmed with joy. Oddly enough, if you were to ask her what food she would use to describe herself, it wouldn’t be potatoes. She would say she resembles trail mix because there are so many different varieties of trail mix. If she had to be more specific, it would be the sweet and salty trail mix, because she can be both sweet and salty. Although, Marissa describes herself as being salty, if she was given $5 million she would spend it all on buying kids bowling starter packs. She may not admit it, but I believe her love for bowling came from Donna in That 70’s Show, which was her favorite television show character, who bowled a 79.

If Marissa could pick up her life and bring it anywhere in the world, she would choose to bring it to Ireland. Her reasoning behind this is that you never hear anything bad happening in Ireland. “They seem very neutral.” She rationalizes. If she ever moved to Ireland and money was no object, and she knew she would succeed, Marissa would give axe throwing or plate smashing a try.

Without a doubt, Marissa is going far in her future life. All of her friends are excited to see her succeed in bowling and in the dental field.
