Senior Spotlight: Sean Rollins

Jazz and Jesus, baby! 18-year-old Sean Charles Rollins, son of mama ‘manda Rollins and famously bald Nate Rollins, is known around the school as an avid jazz and Jesus fan. He is most popular for bringing his beloved saxophone to middle school socials and playing “Careless Whisper” whilst standing on the tables.

When he is not causing chaos in the classroom or working at Second Street Diner, Sean enjoys longboarding, watching his favorite T.V show, Money Heist, or looking through his telescope at his favorite planet, Jupiter. Sean loves space because “the future of earth can be found in the universe.”

When asked what he would recommend to people, Sean simply stated, “Jesus.” Sean Rollins has been an active member of the Living Hope Wesleyan Church for eight years. Currently, he spends his time volunteering with the youth ministry every Wednesday night and enjoys being a part of the Teens Encounter Christ council. If he ever gets the chance to, Sean would love to go on a mission trip to plant a church somewhere abroad. His plans for college are to go to Oklahoma Wesleyan University for youth ministry. However, Sean states that his plans could “completely change by next month.”

If Sean was able to do one thing without failing he would start a travelling jazz band. Sean Rollins has spent his high school years participating in marching band, concert band, jazz band, and he even started his own jazz band with fellow classmates called Brown Lettuce. Sean says that he loves jazz because “you can’t go wrong.” He is almost always listening to one of his favorite jazz artists, Charles Mingus, with his beloved noise-cancelling headphones.

One of the many things Sean has learned in high school is that everyone has shared experiences and their own story to tell. Over the past four years, he has learned to stop focusing on trying to gain approval from others. Anyone who knows him now can tell he is more focused on bringing joy into each classroom, even Personal Finance, and sharing his passion for jazz and Jesus.
