Senior Spotlight: Sawyer Miller

Sawyer Danger Miller, has been on this very Earth since August 21, 2001, a total of 18 years. Now “Danger” isn’t his actual middle name, but he does like to say it is, for his middle name is only the letter D. He lives out by Lake Madison with his mom, Stephanie; dad, Shawn; and older sister, Savannah. He also has two dogs - a golden lab named Paisley and a chihuahua named Riggins.

Being a teenager, you’d think Sawyer watches a variety of movies and tv shows, but he doesn’t actually watch very much tv. He does, however, have a favorite tv show -- That ‘70s Show, and his favorite movie is Stepbrothers. If there were to be a movie about his life, he would want Leonardo Dicaprio to play him because Dicaprio has never been in a bad movie, hence, Sawyer’s movie would not fail.

If Sawyer was in Sioux Falls and got asked where to eat, he would say Slim Chickens in a heartbeat. He claims “they have the best chicken strips.” Chicken is not his favorite food though; steak takes the number one spot. Sawyer would describe his last year as Mexican food, because he feels like it’s never the same and you never know what you’re going to get.

Australia is the place Sawyer would travel to for a year, before the fires, of course. Despite Australia being known for its bugs and strange animals, Sawyer claims he could handle them for a year. Instead of traveling by plane to get there, if he could, he would fly there himself, as that is the one superpower he would like to have.

One thing Sawyer thinks he’s really good at is procrastinating. Though that isn’t something you should probably feel good about, he doesn’t see it as a bad thing. Even with his talent of procrastinating on a variety of things, he is always able to get those tasks done. Sawyer spends his summers working at the Hillside. He’s a dock boy and helps dock the incoming boats and fill them with gas. He enjoys this job because he likes to talk with the boaters and enjoys the company.

Sawyer says an item he can’t live without, besides his phone, is his car because he needs it to get around. That will certainly be true next year as he heads off to college at the University of South Dakota, where he will major in business.

As to how Sawyer sees himself in ten years, he hopes to be out of college and have a job. He doesn’t want to be living in South Dakota and he would like to have a Saint Bernard. One thing he wants to do before he kicks the bucket, is travel to Turks and Caicos island and the Bahamas because a lot of celebrities go there. If Sawyer somehow found himself with 5 million dollars, he would buy a big house and live with two dogs. He wouldn’t spend much time in the big house he just bought because he would also take a lot of vacations.
