Senior Spotlight: Leah Tooker

Leah Faythe Tooker is career-minded 18 year old who wants to own her own restaurant in the future. Leah is surrounded by a supportive family consisting of her step-father Chris Palmlund, her mother Renae Palmlund, and her twin brothers Jeffrey and Jesse Gulbranson. 

In her free time, you can find Leah displaying her musical talents while playing her guitar, and her artistic abilities through her pencil and paper, drawing whatever comes to her mind.  Upon being asked she wouldn’t be able to live without, her answer was simply, “a pencil and paper.” 

After graduation she plans on taking two years off from schooling to get some family things set up. After that, Leah plans to enroll in Mitchell Technical Institute to pursue a degree in either business or culinary. She would then like to open her own restaurant in Kansas. She would like her restaurant to be family friendly dining.

During the summer, you can find Leah working at the Hartford I-90 Speedway, where she practices her culinary skills as she serves food at the concession stand. Leah likes the racing atmosphere as her family has worked at the track for many years; she also helps out by working on the race cars.

When asked what her biggest regret was, Leah answered that “quitting band was a regretful choice” because she had to miss the trip to Florida, which includes a once in a lifetime opportunity to perform at the Walt Disney Theme Park. Leah’s favorite memory from high school includes participating in the high school choir.

If she gets the opportunity, she would like to travel the North American Continent, she dreams of visiting several states, Canada, and Mexico. Leah wants to explore different cultures, foods and take in the amazing views.

In ten years, Leah hopes to achieve her goal of becoming a restaurant entrepreneur and serving the people of Kansas good, family-style food. Leah wants to have her own family and be a successful individual.
