This month, I watched Aliens, the sequel to the smash-hit movie Alien, released in 1986, 7 years after Alien’s release. Now, I really enjoyed the first movie for a multitude of reasons. So when I saw the Aliens on Netflix, I knew I had to watch it, and see if it compares to the original.

I have a lot of good stuff to say about this movie that really stuck out to me. Firstly, like its predecessor, it shows how corporations disregard the common person in their efforts of higher monetary gain and power, a lesson that is still important today. Second, it pioneered the modern-day woman protagonist. It was highly uncommon to see any woman lead in any movie, let alone in an action/horror film. Despite this, Sigourney Weaver (the actor of Ripley) plays her role perfectly. Third, its thriller aspect does not disappoint. The entire movie, I was on the edge of my seat anticipating what would happen next to Ripley and Co. While it isn’t as scary as the first movie, Aliens more than makes up for it with its action. There aren’t really any major critical notes I have about this movie, I can’t find any issues with it at all.

I confidently recommend this to anyone who likes sci-fi, thrillers, and action movies. Aliens is a perfect movie to watch this Halloween with your friends (just keep in mind it is rated-R). Overall though, I would give this movie a 9.5/10.
