Commonly seen on the basketball court is James Driscoll, also known as "Jimmy", thanks to Mr. Larson. Jimmy lives in Madison, South Dakota, as he has his entire life. But that is not the final destination; he hopes to live in Iowa, not too far but not too close. He lives with his parents, Jason and Lisa Driscoll, his brother, Christopher Driscoll, and two cats, Mini and Asher. When Jimmy is not lifting, hanging out with friends, or playing video games, he’s working at Pizza Ranch, where every slice of pizza warms customers' hearts. The most rewarding part of his job is customer service and treating people with respect; their satisfaction is enough to make bussing tables worth it. James is dedicated to working hard in all facets of his life, and MHS will remember him as a sports fanatic. He plays multiple sports, including basketball and track.
Being dedicated and working hard in school and sports comes naturally to James. This is why his favorite subject in school has always been gym. The best game to play in gym is basketball, where his skills can shine through. James’s best advice to underclassmen is to “treat everyone with respect; everyone learns at their own pace.” He also suggests “trying new activities out, you can learn new hobbies or learn different skills.” When in need of a good meal, James go-to is breakfast and pancakes at Perkins. If James could have any superpower, it would be superstrength, which would fit right in with his favorite TV show, Supernatural. His favorite character, Dean, resonates with him because he is an older-brother figure to everyone he meets. James's most memorable moment in high school is getting seventh place in the 4-by-8 with his team. His next steps after graduating are to attend Mitchell Technical College for electrical construction.
In 10 years from now, James sees himself working in electrical construction, with a nice house and a family. When he makes his first five-million-dollar paycheck, he’ll spend it on a new house and give some to his parents. The ultimate purchase is a new car, preferably a 2010 GMC pickup. James aspires to visit multiple states in the United States so he can try native foods; the top of his list is Hawaii.
