When you picture a TV series about green lanterns, you may be visualizing outer space littered with green, aliens, and a cosmic-scale battle. This is different; HBO’s new series Lanterns throws all of that out the window and gives us something new and unexpected. Even if you're not a fan of the down-to-earth series, this will surely change your mind. The series stars actor Kyle Chandler as the veteran Hal Jordan and Aaron Pierre as the trainee John Stewart. Thanks to the creators, Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof, and Tom King, we see a story that is terrifyingly human.
Without spoiling, this show is about two Lanterns, Hal Jordan and John Stewart, as they investigate a murder mystery in the small town of Rushville, Nebraska. This case runs much deeper than it seems and will send the two spiraling down a hole deeper than they expect. With Hal’s interrogation skills, decades of experience, and instincts combined with John’s strict discipline, fearlessness, and military precision, this case is one to watch. Rotten Tomatoes’ critics give this show a 92% critic score, and IMDb gives this a score of 7.8/10. With the audience and critics hooked, the only question left is: Will you join them in this cold case mystery?
