EPIC: The Musical is a musical based off of Greek mythology. Jorge Rivera-Herrans, the creator of the EPIC: The Musical concept album, started this project during his senior year at the University of Notre Dame in 2019. EPIC is based off of Homer’s classic epic, The Odyssey. Although this production isn’t on stage yet, many different animators made animations based off of each song, and merged them together into a full musical that extends over 2 hours.

The musical consists of nine different sagas, in which there are 20 songs. Act 1: The Troy Saga, The Cyclops Saga, The Ocean Saga, The Circe Saga (my personal favorite), and The Underworld Saga. The other four sagas in Act 2 are: The Thunder Saga, The Wisdom Saga, The Vengeance Saga, and the Ithaca Saga.

EPIC has to be one of the best musicals I’ve watched, since I love Greek mythology, music, and musicals in general. My favorite song out of this musical is “Wouldn’t You Like” from the Circe Saga. My favorite character of all time in this musical is Hermes. He’s just such a cool character with great designs, and acts as a kind of comedic relief with how much he laughs in the songs that he sings in.
