Luz Mery Colindres Gonzalez, best known as “Luz”, is a senior at Madison High School. Luz was born and raised in Costa Rica. At 14 years old, she moved to the U.S, lived for one month in Miami, Florida, then moved to Madison, South Dakota, and has been living in Madison for four years. Luz’s family includes her mother, Eveling; her stepfather, Henry; her cousin, Justin; her little brother, Logan; and her older and twin sister, Dary. “By only a minute,” she says every time someone asks her which twin is older. She loves spending her free time with friends, reading, and drawing.
Luz says that her favorite colors are black and lilac. Her favorite food is a Costa Rican dish called Cantones, but since she can’t have it here, her second favorite food is lasagna. She likes a lot of TV shows, movies, and books, but her favorites are definitely Pretty Little Liars, The Notebook, and The Hate You Give. Some stuff that comes easily to her is makeup and art, which is why art is her favorite subject. When she was asked to complete the statement “I recommend…”, she said, “I recommend The Walking Dead”. She said, “If I had $5 million to spend, I would buy a house and a nice car, and I would invest the rest of the money. She said that she doesn’t have a favorite genre of music, but she listens to pop most of the time.
When she was asked what item she couldn’t live without, she chose her glasses because “I'm blind,” she said. If Luz could live anywhere in the world, she would choose to live in Costa Rica or Switzerland, due to their rich culture and diverse food. Some stuff on Luz’s bucket list is: get a tattoo, skydiving, drive around the U.S, go on a cruise to Europe, and learn how to paint with watercolors.
In 10 years, Luz sees herself owning a house, having her dream car, with no kids, and a Husky and a Ferret as pets.
