Teresa Warns is one of MHS’s foreign exchange students. She is from Hamburg, Germany. When we asked her to describe what her home country is like, she said, “The weather isn’t quite as cold,” and she remarked how strange it is for high school students to have driver’s licenses. Hamburg is a big city, so Teresa is accustomed to public transportation and crowded streets, unlike Madison, which has little public transportation and sprawling landscapes. Teresa’s favorite foods from home are kaiserschmarrn and schnitzel, and her host family includes Mary Bell and Jaxson Sodini, as well as another foreign exchange student, Guillem Megias Fornell.
Some activities and hobbies she enjoys are tennis, playing the piano, traveling, going to church, and skiing. In school, she has joined the tennis team and the prom committee. Teresa stated that school here is way different from back home. She said that “everyone knows everybody.” She thought that was very interesting. Also, her old school didn’t let her pick her classes, whereas here she can. She enjoys having that privilege here.
