Ella Grace Thompson, nicknamed “Smella” by her brothers, was born and raised in Michigan, then moved all over within the last four years, but is currently back in Madison, SD. Ella has a family of eight, consisting of five brothers and one sister; she lands smack-dab in the middle of all of them. All of her siblings are half-siblings, but she loves them with all of her heart. When asked where she sees herself in ten years, she replied, "Hopefully married, living in my dream home in Canada, or at least somewhere with a lot of trees”, and when asked how she would spend $5 million, she replied that she would build her dream house/cottage and make sure those she cares about are well taken care of. A motto Ella lives by is, “We are all sinners, so I can't judge others without looking at my own actions first.”
When asked what her favorite color was, she replied, “Gray like the color of the sky when it rains, and purple, like lightning”. Ella’s absolute favorite food is pasta, specifically spaghetti. When asked what her final meal would be, she replied, “A blueberry bagel and cream cheese, and a strawberry banana smoothie with protein powder and oatmilk, as well as some spicy sausage.” Some of Ella's favorite classes are History, because she likes imagining how other people have lived through life, as well as Advanced Art, because of the freedom and independence she’s allowed with her art projects. Ella loves music more than anything, and when asked what she couldn’t live without, she responded, “My headphones. I don't know what I'd do without them.” She is all over music-wise, but some of her current favorite genres are House R&B, Jazz, and specifically John Mayer (who she highly recommends!).
Some things that come easily to Ella are “Being a Jack of all trades.” When asked what she likes to do during her free time, she replied, “I’m a jack of all trades: crafting, sewing, crocheting, drawing, painting, baking, and apparently I’m good at welding too.” When she isn't exploring her creative side, she can be found working at her job at Ace Hardware, where her coworkers get lucky every once in a blue moon when she brings in her baked goods. If she could play any movie character or actor, she would choose any older sister role, or Michelangelo from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Some things on Ella's bucket list include: “Get on the grind”, start tattooing, start a brand line, open a tattoo shop, “live life, man”, and “simply die.” One thing that Ella is afraid of is not living up to her full potential, and how her fear has the potential to hold her back. If she were to give any advice to freshmen, she would say, “Learn how to freaking walk on the right side of the hallway, I'm sick of it!”
