I leave my house, and I have my phone. I go to school, so I can’t forget my phone at home. I am at home, and I have my phone. I have noticed the common denominator that is seen within my life and many of my peers; our phone or device is the one thing we will always have with us.

Living in a time where a phone is one of the most important and powerful tools I own, it has definitely shaped the world we live in today. My cell is my way of communication, but also my source for so much more. With constant access, I found it so easy to do a quick internet search to solve my problem or answer my question. However, with the answers always being at our fingertips, it has caused quite an increase in learned helplessness. I have experienced this firsthand through all of my activities working with children. Since devices and the internet surround us constantly, it has become so much easier to go to a device rather than thinking it through ourselves.

I have also noticed that with all of the media almost consuming our lives, it is almost impossible not to compare, critique, or control what we see online. We can see everyone's daily lives. The media we are surrounded by has a large impact on our generation’s daily lives and how we view the world, ourselves, and others.
