“Promposals”: what are they?

As April quickly approaches, prom is right around the corner. Girls are looking for their dresses while guys are looking for their dates. With dates comes the very popularized “promposal.”: the guys going over the top to get the girl to say yes, girls waiting for the guy to ask. But what is a “promposal?” According to Merriam-Webster Dictionary a promposal is, “... an elaborately, or extravagantly, staged offer to take someone to the prom, often tailored to the personality or tastes of the ‘promposee’ (the person being asked).”

Why not not just say, “will you go to prom with me?” Many people think promposals are unnecessary and cheesy. However, promposals can create a memorable experience, show creativity, and portray how well you know a person. When a poster is personalized to the “promposee” they are even more likely to say yes, because it shows how well you know this person and the effort you're willing to put in. “Promposals” may take a little effort, but if you really want to impress your date, and have a higher chance of them saying yes, I’d say it’s worth the effort!

Need ideas? Go to Pinterest and search “promposal ideas!” Don’t have Pinterest? Use Google. Show you care by putting in the effort-- get them the flowers, get them the candy, because who knows? They might say yes.
