Brock Wyatt Olson, son of Laura and Jim Olson and younger brother to Trent, was born and raised in Madison. When talking about his childhood and the one thing he couldn’t live without, Brock answered, “My baby blanket, because I’ve always had it since I was a baby.” Brock started working at Cherry Lanes, the local bowling alley, his freshman year of high school. He found the most rewarding part of the job is interacting with customers and league members. Outside of work, you’ll find him hanging out with friends and making them laugh; he describes himself as the “comedic relief” in the group. Then during the spring and summer, you’ll find him at the baseball field, practicing a sport he’s been playing since he was 12.
When asked what some of his favorite things are, he answered “Favorite color - blue; favorite restaurant - Chick-fil-A; favorite TV show/movie - The Office/Step Brothers; and favorite subject - History, because I like learning about wars and the military.” Brock doesn't necessarily have a bucket list. Still, he would love to visit every baseball stadium in the US and travel to the Netherlands because his family is descended from there.
On September 18th of 2025, he officially enlisted in the military. After graduation, Brock plans to attend Air Force basic training. Ten years from now, he envisions himself living in his own home near Lennox, possibly starting a family, and continuing his service in the military.
Reflecting on his high school experience, Brock says his most memorable moment was beating Dell Rapids in football during his senior year—the first win since 2022. His top recommendation for students is to take Ms. Grogan’s art classes, especially sculpture. His advice to underclassmen is, “Appreciate what you have when you have it, and make the best out of whatever scenarios you're thrown into.” To finish, he shared a Bible verse that he lives by: Romans 8:18 — “For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed to us.”
