Gavin Patrick Schneider, also known as “Wiplash” because of his iconic Fortnite gamertag, is a senior at Madison High School. He has been a part of the Madison community his whole life in his family of five. Gavin is the son of Brett and Heidi, and the middle brother of Chloe and Presley. A couple of things that come easily to him are talking and bowling. Gavin is very talented when it comes to bowling and won the state championship in 2024 in Pierre. Due to his accomplishments, he was awarded multiple scholarships to help fund his college education. When asked what his favorite subject is, he claimed, “Math, because when I get a question right, I feel a great sense of self-accomplishment.” Something Gavin did this past summer was go on a road trip with his friends. They started in South Dakota and went to the Outer Banks, along the east coast, ending in Florida. Gavin's favorite part of this trip was listening to country music and laughing with his friends.

When Gavin has free time, he often enjoys spending it doing the things he loves, such as bowling and playing golf. You can find Gavin outside practicing golf at Madison Country Club. One thing he can’t live without is his driver because he bought it with his own money. Alongside golf and bowling, he also plays baseball. Gavin says his favorite memory is winning the state championship in 2024. Outside of school and sports, Gavin also works at the bowling alley. His favorite part of working at the bowling alley is talking to the bowlers on league nights and spending time with his co-workers. Another thing Gavin enjoys is sitting in his hot tub after work and watching football games. When asked about his favorite number, Gavin stated, “My favorite number is one, because Derrick Rose wore number 1.”

After Gavin graduates, he plans to attend USD and major in business while also managing a golf course. In ten years from now, Gavin sees himself graduated with his business major, starting a life with his wife and kids, and living in a house on a golf course. One thing Gavin recommends to underclassmen is to go golfing because hitting a pure shot feels amazing. The motto Gavin has lived by throughout high school is, “Talent wins games, but teamwork wins championships,” - Michael Jordan.
