Selma Brown is the daughter of Maria and Roy, and has one brother, Emmett. Selma is a senior and has lived in Madison her whole life. Known for her “creative and calm personality,” Selma has a passion for art, stating, “Art just comes easily to me,” a fitting statement that perfectly describes Selma’s love for art. Selma enjoys her Mom’s homemade food and frequent trips to McDonald's. Selma loves the T.V. show Home Improvement and the Harry Potter books, reflecting her humor and imagination.

In school, Selma’s favorite subject is math because “Numbers are very straightforward.” She finds comfort in her stuffed animals and in the future dreams of traveling to France and Spain to admire the “beautiful architecture.” After high school, she plans to attend Augustana to study nursing and hopes to become a labor and delivery nurse. She says that while she sometimes fears change, “Change doesn't stop me because I know eventually, it will happen.”

Selma is a member of Choir, Band, and Theatre at MHS. When asked about her biggest achievement in High School, Selma said, “Making All-State Choir in 2024 and 2025.” When asked about what advice she would give to underclassmen, Selma replied, “You should be nice to everyone because you never know what someone is going through.”
