Ember Rustand is a student at Madison High School. However, she has not lived in Madison for the entirety of her life. She was born in Minnesota, and when she was in second grade, she and her family moved here for a fresh start. Ember lives at home with three others: her mom, dad, and her older sister. In her free time, she loves to read books like The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue, and she enjoys listening to music as well as drawing. Her favorite movie is Interstellar.
If she were able to live anywhere in the world, she would choose to live on the big island of Hawaii. Ember visited the island over the summer, and she fell in love with the uniqueness of the island. If she could go to any time period, she would go to the 80s because she said it looks very productive and easy-going. Her favorite subject is science, but only when it makes sense, meaning that it can’t involve chemistry or physics. Ember is currently working a job at Broadwater out on Lake Madison as part of the kitchen staff. She stated that her favorite and most rewarding part of the job is the kindness of her coworkers. When she was asked what advice she had for underclassmen, she responded, “Freshman year- take it seriously because it does affect you. Even though high school seems scary, it's not.”
When she finishes school and has graduated, she wants to go to college for marine biology. After college, she wants to continue her career in marine biology. Ten years from now, Ember sees herself living on one of the coasts, working in marine biology or getting her PhD. Her most memorable moment from high school so far was when Mr. Liesinger got pied in the face.
