Avery Bender, known as “Bender”, a name passed down through family and which holds a family tradition, has always lived in Madison with his family. His family consists of his parents; Kellie and Bryan, along with his two siblings; Mason and Braxton. For the past three years, Avery has been working at the bowling alley, Cherry Lanes Pro Shop, and feels the most rewarding part of his job is that people get along easily. When asked what his favorite subject was in school, he responded that English and spelling came easily to him, and that it has been that way all his life. Outside of school, you will see Avery hanging out with friends and watching sports like football and racing. Speaking of racing, you may see Avery race around in the one thing he can not live without, his truck.

Avery’s favorite movies almost always have Adam Sandler in them, but if he had a chance to play a character, he would choose Dracula because he “has a lot of friends”. On Avery’s bucket list, he mainly wants to travel the world (so far he has traveled to Jamaica). “Maybe one way it would be quicker to travel is to teleport”, as he states, “it gets me somewhere quickly and on time”. He would also like to see some professional sporting events, perhaps a Seahawks or maybe a Golden State Warriors game. He says that if he had a YouTube or TikTok platform, he would use that platform to make content that is sports-related, like the current events that are happening in the sports world.

When asked what life would look like in the next 10 years, he envisions having his own place out in the country with a dog. If he had 5 million dollars, he would buy land, build a home, buy 4-wheelers and dirt bikes, and save some of it to live comfortably. Advice he wants underclassmen to know is “to not be boring and go out for sporting events.” His most memorable time at Madison High School was attending the sporting events. After high school, he plans to attend SDSU for physical education, which he believes is a place that suits him.
