If you're a fan of DC and want something new, epic, and action-packed, then you should watch Superman, but not just any Superman, the new one. Even if you're not a fan of DC, it doesn't matter because the movie is just that good! Warner Bros. Discovery, in collaboration with DC Studios, hired American filmmaker James Gunn to direct the Superman film. James Gunn has also directed movies like Man of Tomorrow, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Suicide Squad. Actor David Corenswet plays Superman, and Nicholas Hoult plays the antagonist Lex Luthor.
The movie begins in Metropolis around mid-2024 to mid-2025 with Lex Luthor attempting to gather evidence to turn the world against Superman. He achieves this and goes on to invade Jarhanpur in collaboration with Boravia, as they had agreed to give him half of the land to create Luthoria if he were to supply them with advanced technology to win the war. Later on, you find out that the whole war was just a cover-up so Lex could get permission to kill Superman. Some observers and critics say that with this storyline, the movie was weak and underdeveloped; they didn't handle the use of current events well, and the movie was rather divisive instead of clean-cut like they wanted. Critics ultimately decided that the movie is a potential flop because it wasn't overwhelmingly profitable like the company wanted it to be.
