Maguire Fredrick Studer is a senior who has lived in Sioux Falls, Huron, and now Madison. He is a twin, and everyone in his family is spaced three years apart except the last two. He works at Sunshine Foods and likes seeing people he knows while on the job. His favorite subject is science, because it makes sense and connects to the real world. Singing and band come easily to him, and in his free time, he enjoys being with his girlfriend and playing video games.
Maguire’s favorite color is forest green, and his favorite food is chicken with ranch. He likes eating at Los Tapatios and enjoys watching Brooklyn Nine-Nine. His favorite movie is Thor: Ragnarok, and his favorite book is Airborn. He could not live without his sweatshirt collection. With five million dollars, he would buy a house and a sturdy soccer mom car. “I don't care about the look of the car, I just want to get from point A to point B with as few repairs as possible,” he says. His most memorable high school moment was placing second in doubles at state tennis and making it to finals for band twice in the same season.
After graduation, Maguire plans to attend the School of Mines to study environmental and/or civil engineering. In ten years, he sees himself with a master’s degree, living in the Black Hills with two cars, two to three kids, and married to his girlfriend. His advice for younger students is to know your place but not be afraid to push back. He recommends trying fine arts because it brings out a different side of you. Maguire’s guiding quote is, “If I can’t be the best, I’ll be the nicest.”
