Molly Joyce Engebretson was born on April 22, 2008, in Watertown, to Lori and Pat Engebretson. Her mom, Lori, lovingly calls her Molly Dolly. She has two sisters, her older sister, Maggie, and her younger sister, Maddie, and a dog named Walter who completes their family. Molly currently works as a lifeguard at the Community Center, where her favorite part of the job is building meaningful relationships with the people she meets.
When she is not working, you’ll likely find Molly at the gym, running around town, or tidying up; Molly finds joy in keeping things organized. Throughout high school, she has been deeply involved in a variety of activities, including cross country, cheer, dance, pole vault, HOSA, student council, NHS, and Key Club. She’s also the drum major for the marching band and has earned a spot at the all-state choir. She states that participating in All-State 2024 has been one of her favorite memories from high school.
Molly lives her life with a bright spirit and a heart for others. She surrounds herself with friends who encourage and uplift her, and she treasures the happiness that they bring into her life. Her favorite colors are light purple (lilac, or lavender) and her favorite foods are banana bread and sushi. She also enjoys sipping on Alanis while listening to her favorite songs, Champagne Coast by Blood Orange and Space Song by Beach House. Molly loves The Summer I Turned Pretty, the movie LaLaLand, and finds comfort in Where the Red Fern Grows. Her favorite subject in school is biology because she loves learning how life works and hopes to study it further. Though she is fearless in many ways, she admits that snakes send her running in the opposite direction.
The bible verse that guides her is Joshua 1:9: “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
Looking ahead, Molly aspires to become a NICU nurse, a goal that has become a passion of hers. She plans to attend nursing school at Brigham Young University, but is also considering Augustana. She says that one day, if she could live anywhere, she would live in Norway, drawn to its peaceful scenery and quiet beauty. Above all, Molly dreams of building a life filled with love, family, and purpose.
In everything she does, Molly’s kindness and determination shine through, qualities that will carry her far into her bright future ahead.
