What is Key Club?
Key Club is a high school club dedicated to bettering the community of Madison through volunteering, fundraising, and service projects. It also develops members’ leadership and collaborative skills. It consists of approximately 45 students from MHS. The club was founded in August 2025.
Officers
Key Club also consists of an elite group of students known as officers and a teacher group advisor, Dana Gonyo. The student officers include: Calista Sahr (president), Caitlyne Kearin (vice president), Sienna Maxwell (secretary), Delilah Maxwell (treasurer), Lydia Breddin and Charlotte Hasleton (artistic directors), Karstyn Miller (web master), and Grace Blessinger and Kylee Oines (Board of Directors).
Projects Key Club Participated in
So far in 2025, Key Club has been very active in the community. They have donated time and energy to several local events:
Provided a free dog wash service
Organized food at the local Food Pantry
Served at the Kiwanis pancake feed
Assisted nursing home residents at Bethel in providing treats to trick-or-treaters
Dressed as zombies and participated in a community 5k event
Assisted first responders during a hospital disaster drill
Helped with crafts and games at a public library Pokemon event for kids
Created a library display case to showcase the history of the PTA
Put out flags at the Dakota State University football field for Labor Day
Helped serve a Gathering meal at a local church
Participated in weekly bingo games with Peaceful Pine’s residents
Future Plans
Some future plans the Key Club are to host a book drive, paint rocks for suicide prevention, and a gathering meal on December 24st at the United Methodist Church.
