It feels like a national holiday when coffee shops release their fall drinks. Typically, the fall menu focuses on pumpkin spice, whether it's five different types of drinks all with pumpkin spice flavoring or food items that are also spiced to taste like pumpkin spice. Let's be honest, pumpkin spice is overrated. Most people just feel pressured into liking it because it's basically the only fall flavor on the menu. There are plenty of other drinks that give off the same fall vibe without the nasty flavor of pumpkin spice. Here are my personal top 3 favorite fall drinks.
Starting off with number one, apple cider. This is a classic fall drink. With its sweet and sometimes tangy aftertaste, you can pair this wonderful fall drink with cinnamon sticks for extra flavor. This drink is perfect for watching football games on a chilly Sunday afternoon.
The next best fall drink is a maple latte. This drink would go perfectly with a side of pancakes. A maple latte has just the right amount of sweetness and tastes like crisp fall mornings. This is a very underrated drink that feels just as seasonal as a pumpkin spice, if not more.
Last but not least, hot chocolate with a twist is a staple. Classic hot chocolate can never go wrong, but add peppermint, caramel, or even cinnamon, and it's the perfect blend for fall. This drink is perfect for transitioning into winter, but I don't want to leave the fall spirit behind.
Fall isn't just pumpkin spice, and these drinks will hopefully help others branch out and leave the overused pumpkin spice behind. Whether you're grabbing a drink before class or staying home to watch a fall movie, these new drinks will be perfect for you.
