Senior Spotlight: Brock Minnaert

Do you like eagles? Brock Hunter Minnaert, 17, does, which is why he would choose to fly if he could have any superpower. To Brock, eagles are free and without worry, not to mention fast, which is exactly what he wants to be.

If given the choice, Brock would play as Bobby Ricky, who is his favorite movie character. Ricky was a character who liked to go fast and came out as the winner multiple times. Over the span of his school years, Brock has been an advocate of sports, with his size eleven shoes carrying him through baseball, basketball, and football; he does especially well in football and baseball. When he’s not scoring touchdowns and hitting home runs, Brock works at Mustang Seeds, which he likes due to his coworkers being friendly and casual.

If given $5 million, he would use $2.5 million to pay off Melissa and Randy’s (his parents) debts and one million dollars to pay for his brother, Cade’s, college, although he would leave the rest of the money to send to a charity. If Brock could use it on himself, though, it would definitely be for $5 million dollars worth of chapstick, as that is something he cannot live without.

Brock values are the things he has learned in high school, including the ability to work well with others and other social skills that are useful in the outside world. A movie he would recommend to others would for sure be Coach Carter, as it is not only a movie about basketball but also a movie that has wholesome themes and multiple life lessons that have impacted him. His favorite movie, though, would be Remember the Titans, with his favorite Television show is Friday Night Lights.

Because of the happiness he feels and just living the life, Brock thinks of himself as Spongebob, in terms of cartoon characters. Contrary to living in the ocean, though, Brock would prefer to live in California, by the ocean for a year. This is due to California’s warm climate, with many large cities to visit.

While he is still living life in town, he prefers ribs over other foods, although he would describe his life over the past year as an oreo. The past year has had ups and downs, with the cookie parts being the downs, as he doesn’t like those, and the cream in the middle as the ups. If Brock could try anything and not fail, it would definitely be to be in the National Football League, or NFL, as he loves football. This isn’t necessarily what he aspires to be, though, as he plans to go to South Dakota State University for either Business Economics or Ag Business. With this, he hopes that within ten years he will be happily married, with a family and a job that he loves.
