Senior Spotlight: Gavin Slinker

Gavin Slinker is an outgoing 17-year-old teen. He’s lived in Madison for 1 year now and was homeschooled in his junior and sophomore year. Gavin finally decided to join Madison High School for his senior year, with plans to make new friends, which he’s done, and interact with lots of kids. Gavin is a very unique guy; he can see any fragment or discoloration with any object.  He can see a lot more colors than you and I could imagine. The Hillside restaurant is where he worked this summer and met some great friends. Back in Sulfur, Louisiana, Gavin had lots of friends he truly misses. A memory he is fond of is he and his friend being called Patrick and SpongeBob, as his friend’s name is Patrick.

Knowing lots about different cultures, Gavin would love to visit Japan, saying “There is always something going on there, I'd never get bored.” Gavin plans to go into the military, preferably the Army or Navy. He loves the water and Gavin is a huge lover of seafood; his favorite is shellfish. He loves milk, but when he was younger he was lactose intolerant.  One day all they had was regular milk; Gavin just started drinking and drinking it, soon enough he became immune to it. The superpower he’d love to have is the power to mimic, so he can mimic all the powers.

One of his favorite shows to watch in his free time is The Office, and he loves watching it with his dad.  Gavin is very interested in history, wars and how they affect the world. After his military stint, Gavin plans to become a history teacher. Gavin is a huge advocate for veterans and the impact they made for the country.  If he had five million dollars he’d give it to this ranch for veterans his dad used to take him to. In 10 years Gavin plans to have a great family and teach history.
