Senior Spotlight: Katrina Kauffman

Katrina Jaylene Kauffman is a fun, chicken alfredo loving 17-year-old that has lived in Madison for her entire life. Her family consists of her mother, Sherise; father, Shannon; sister, Kassi; and her brother, Hunter.

Her dream is to fly planes or become a private pilot. Her plans after high school are to attend Dakota State University and complete her general courses; she will then figure out what she wants to do for the rest of her life.

When asked where she saw herself 10 years from now, she hopes to be married, owning her own house, being in a career that she loves, and having a job that keeps her financially stable.

Katrina currently works at Classic Corner and enjoys meeting new people and talking to the regular customers. When asked what food described her last year she responded with, “wings because they are messy”. While on the topic of food, Katrina recommended that everyone should try chicken alfredo at some point in their life.

Through her four years in high school, Katrina has participated in Oral Interpretation, going to regions and state two out of the four years. This year Katrina was inducted into the Madison High School Honor Society. Along with those activities, Katrina participates in the high school choir and has since her freshman year.

One of the many things Katrina has learned in high school is that people aren't who they appear to be, and they aren't always what you expect. She insists, “you should get to know them before you judge them”. Getting out of your comfort zone is something Katrina encourages everyone, including herself, to do, this is because you will learn so much about yourself by doing so.

Whatever Katrina decides to do after high school, she will no doubt succeed greatly. We wish her the best of luck, and that all her goals in life are met. Katrina’s fun-loving nature, sense of humor, and willingness to do whatever needs to be done to succeed will make her a wonderful worker as well as a marvelous human being now and in the future.
