Senior Spotlight: Jack Jankord

Jack Jankord was born on October 30th, 2001, into a family that would later grow much more. He is the second oldest of four children, including Garret, Oliver, and Ellie. His father, Jared, is a proud father who shares his love for music with all his children. They live in a part of town that has had some problems with floods in the past, Jack being a seventh-generation Even (Mother’s side of the family) in Lake County. Jack participates in many musical activities including band and choir, which are also his favorite classes throughout all of high school. These are his favorites because he loves waking up to all the positivity and seeing most of his friends every morning. Seeing how these are his favorite classes, the fact that he is a great singer and musically talented makes a lot of sense. He personally recommends to everyone to expand their music library to its deepest depths and explore more musically.

One of his favorite hobbies is playing video games on his Xbox, which is also what he wouldn’t be able to live without. His favorite game that he has ever played is Far Cry 5. Along with this, some of his other favorite entertainment pieces are the show How I Met Your Mother and the movie The Prestige. Jack loves entertainment and would love to play Tony Stark if he ever got the chance to play any character from any movie. Jack loved his character arc throughout the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe. He isn’t the most over-the-top NFL fan, but when he is cheering, it’s for the Vikings, whose primary color is also his favorite, purple.

Jack felt like 2019 was his year, describing his last year as a peanut, as he felt like he broke out of his shell and got to know himself even better. One thing he has learned throughout highschool is how “it’s not about what you know, it’s about who you know.” Living his first 18 years, he has learned just how fast time can truly fly by, which is why he would choose to be able to control time if he could have any superpower. Another hypothetical he answered was what he would do if he’d been given five billion dollars, but only five hours to spend it all without spending any on himself. He chose to give the majority of it to his father and decided to donate the remaining amount to various charities or people in need.

Jack is known to all of us as a fun and friendly guy who is musically talented, but the cartoon character he believes relates to him most is the very polarizing Eric Cartman from South Park. When asked what he would do with three wishes, he said he would wish for world peace, to not have a financial care in the world, and to overall have more kindness in the world.

A dream job, with no fear of failure or lack of money, for Jack would be a professional musician. However, he will be going to Western Dakota Tech in Rapid City to do their HVAC program next year. If he was given the choice to live anywhere, he chose Montana because of its beautiful landscape, wildlife, and scenery. This ties into where he sees himself in ten years, in the hills and living a life he enjoys, doing whatever he yearns.
