Senior Spotlight: Katie Ahlf

Seventeen-year-old Katie Ann Ahlf moved to Madison in January of 2018 from Sioux City. She’s grateful for her two aunts, Melissa and Vanessa, who have been very supportive throughout her life. Along with her Grandma Diane and her cousin, Brooke, Katie also has a little sister that is ten years old and named Alana.

Katie claims the last year of her life was boring,”kind of like a cheese pizza.” Unlike pizza, which Katie thinks is very boring, her favorite food is tacos. She loves tacos, especially from Taco Johns, as she hates Taco Bell. Tacos aren’t the only thing that Katie loves. She has somewhat of an obsession with Stranger Things. She thought that the third season was the best because it was super intense. She also recommends everyone to watch all three seasons of the show in one sitting. Her favorite movie is The Breakfast Club and her favorite book is The Hunger Games. She prefers the book series of The Hunger Games over the movie version.

Katie Ahlf claims that she used to be very awkward. She wishes she had the ability to time travel in order to revisit her past and redo those awkward times. One thing that she takes away from her years in high school is how to deal with the people around her. She spends parts of her day just writing down her feelings and thoughts about her life in a journal. Writing down her thoughts helps her deal with life. If Katie had 5 million dollars to spend in 5 days, not on herself, she would help her friend’s mom out because she is struggling. She also would send money to her Aunt Melissa because she has been raising her little sister, Alana.

Some interesting facts about Katie are that she prefers dark colors, like black and purple. If she could be any character from any TV show, book, or movie, she would want to be a female Robin from the movie Batman. One would think that Kaite would want to be some character from Stranger Things since she has an obsession with the show! Katie describes herself to be kind of like Squidward from Spongebob. She also thinks her life represents the drama from The Bachelorette. If Katie could try anything in the world and not fail, she would start her own business. This business would put some of its profits towards mental health.

If Katie could move anywhere in the world, she would want to go somewhere a lot bigger, like Chicago. She likes Chicago because there are more things to do and it has a more diverse culture. Katie intends to go to Black Hills University to study photography. Before she does that, she is possibly going to take a gap year to save up money. She wants to use her photography major to learn more about the art of picture-taking. She hopes to take senior pictures and be a wedding photographer.
