Senior Spotlight: Colby Mennis

As one of the main pitchers for the Madison Bulldogs baseball team, Colby Jeff Mennis, is very athletic. He is also considered one of the best wrestlers in the state. With his parents, Jay and Carrie, pushing him to be the most outstanding he could since second grade, he has become a well-known face for the Madison Bulldogs wrestling team. Along with his parents, he also has a little sister Shelby, an older brother Bailey, whom he was able to learn the most from in terms of wrestling, and two dogs, Berkley and Remi. Though he focuses most of his time on wrestling, he also enjoys playing baseball in the summertime. His favorite Major League Baseball team to watch is the Minnesota Twins.

An avid bird and fish hunter, Colby enjoys being in the great outdoors with his family. Hunting is enjoyable to him because he is able to get up early with his friends and endure the fun challenge. If he could go anywhere in the world and money was no object, he would go to the ocean because he has never seen it. He recommends going outside because he believes that it is peaceful, though he appreciates it the most when it is warm out. Because of his dislike of cold temperatures, he believes that if he could live anywhere, he would choose to live in Florida because of their warm temperatures.

At the age of eighteen, Colby has learned that you shouldn’t take anything for granted. Colby’s favorite part about high school is that he is able to see his friends every day in class. Though he is still undecided about what he wants to go to school for, he has narrowed his school choice down to South Dakota State University. Colby believes that SDSU is his top choice because it is close to home and seems like it will be fun to live there. After college, he hopes to see himself having a full-time job living in a house he owns with his beautiful wife.
