Senior Spotlight: Briana Steuerwald

“The tribe has spoken” is one thing Briana Steuerwald hopes to never hear from Jeff Probst, host of the ABC reality show Survivor. Briana Kay Steuerwald truly believes in her ability to win the grand prize on the show Survivor. Born to Marsha and Matt Steuerwald on May 11, 2001, Briana shares her home with one brother, Chase and dog, Chewy. Briana has always had a blanket with her, even to the extent that her father makes fun of her for it, but she doesn’t mind as she loves a good joke. Briana enjoys comedy, with her favorite TV show, movie, and book all having comedic appeal. Although she doesn’t watch much TV, her favorite show is Impractical Jokers. Her favorite movie, also a comedy, Replacements, showcases her love of sports. Briana participates in volleyball, basketball, and track and field, and is quite accomplished in all of these activities. Her advice to underclassmen is to participate in as many extracurricular activities as possible, as it allows one to meet many different people and build relationships. Another sport Briana enjoys is racing, as her father raced street stock cars when she was a child. The race track was a place her whole family could spend time together, supporting her dad.

At “18 years young,” Briana has plans to become an electroneurodiagnostic technician after graduation and attend Southeast Technical Institute in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. This summer, Briana worked at Assist Financial Services. During her time there, she scanned documents in the imagery department and did landscaping. She thought that the work was easy, but realized her passion is helping people. If she had 5 million dollars, she would donate a large portion of it to her church and then travel the world with her family. Briana is also very good at making people comfortable around her. She can easily make people open up about something they normally wouldn’t talk about. Although she wants to see the world, she would live in Arizona if she could live anywhere she wanted. By the time she is 28, Briana hopes to have graduated college, started a job she loves, and begin a family, possibly in Arizona. Briana has always loved the outdoors, and wants to explore a large portion of the U.S., hiking whenever she can. Although she is excited about the future, Briana will miss spending time with her family and her mom’s homemade lasagna, which she and her brother love.

After her time at Madison High School, Briana hopes that students and teachers alike remember her strong work ethic, optimistic and confident attitude, and her sense of humor. She hopes to be remembered for finding humor in everything, just like Bugs Bunny.
