Senior Spotlight: Bailey Beck

Eighteen-year-old Bailey Marie Beck was born on September 12, 2001, and lives with her Mom, Tara; Dad, Jeff; and three other siblings: Bob, Bradyn, and Ivan (who is incredibly 13 years younger than she is).

Bailey lives in Howard, South Dakota and drives to Madison every day for school. Bailey works at the Howard Golf Course and does just about everything there - except for working in the bar, of course! She works at a daycare and watches a whopping eight kids, and also loves to help out on the farm.

In her free time, Bailey loves to make her own products with her grandma. They enjoy making bath bombs, chapstick, soap, and anything beauty related, but they usually only make it for themselves or family. If she had five million dollars, but couldn’t spend any of it on herself, she would buy the red Ranger that's for sale in Howard because that’s all her little brother, Ivan, wants and ever talks about. She would also give some money to her grandpa Boyd, because farming has been hard for him this year.

The movie, Cheaper by the Dozen, describes the last year of her life because she has many crazy siblings and life has also been crazy. Talking about movies, one of her favorites is Moana. The ability to be invisible would be her superpower of choice, so then no one would know she's even there. If she could be on any TV show, she would choose to be on the Wheel of Fortune, because she is very good at guessing what the next puzzle will be.

Her favorite memory from high school was in the 11th grade in Mr. Schreck’s room when he was walking around wearing a wig and a black cape, while listening to loud metal music and reading a poem. The character, Sally from The Cat in the Hat best describes her because she is smart and loving, and her brothers can sometimes be a handful. Bailey’s favorite teacher over the years is Ms. Brown because she can always talk to her about anything, and Ms. Brown is always there to listen to her.

One thing Bailey learned from high school is to have patience for others even if things can get frustrating. After graduating from high school, Bailey plans to study Criminology and Forensic Psychology at South Dakota State University in Brookings, SD. In the next 10 years, shes sees herself working at a BAU, while also having a family.
