Senior Spotlight: Callie Bursing

18-year-old Callie Lee Bursing is a senior at MHS who is currently the president of the National Honor Society. She lives in Madison with only her mother, Michelle and father, Tony as her brothers, Cody, Braxton, and Chandler, no longer live at home. Her favorite color is purple-ish, but the color is actually hard to explain as it’s “not exactly purple.” Her favorite food is pasta, but not a specific type. The last year of Callie’s life, as she said, “is like a raspberry in that it was sour, but also sweet at the same time.”

After high school, Callie plans to attend SDSU to major in human biology and pre-med. She would like to go into the medical field to become a surgeon or an obstetrician-gynecologist.  Callie currently has two jobs: she’s a CNA at Bethel because she wants to help those who can’t help themselves. She also helps with the hospital medical records, ensuring that documents are correct. She keeps the documents organized, which requires a lot of responsibility.

Callie’s favorite television show is Grey’s Anatomy, her favorite movie is Instant Family, and her favorite book is To Kill A Mockingbird. If she could play any character, Callie would chose to portray the character Meredith Grey from her favorite fictional television show, Grey’s Anatomy. One reality show Callie would be on is Sugar Rush because baking is one of her many hobbies. A cartoon character that best describes her would be Minnie Mouse.

If Callie had five million dollars and couldn’t spend it on herself, she would donate the money to organizations cleaning the oceans and for the wildfires in Australia. Callie enjoys helping with the Special Olympics and getting to spend extra time with her brother with special needs. She has two dogs, both are Corgi’s, one’s name is Cooper and the other is Auggie.

One item that Callie can’t live without is her bed since she loves to sleep. She would like to live in New York for a year to see what big city life is like. Callie’s advice to underclassmen would be to “spend time with a variety of people and have fun.”
