Senior Spotlight: Nicholas Kessler

Nicholas Gregory Kessler has been on this earth for 17 years. He was named after two saints, Saint Gregory and Saint Nicholas. He has a close family that consists of 5 family members:  his mother, Christy; stepdad, Steve; old sister, Lyndsey; and younger brother, Tim. One thing Nick wishes he could do is spend more time with his grandparents because he hasn't spent as much time with them as he wants to.

Nick relates his life to that of a mashed banana, yet he seems to have his whole life planned out. When he graduates high school, he plans to attend Augustana University in Sioux Falls. There he will major in biochemistry and wants to eventually become a hematologist. Nick states that “blood has interested me ever since I was a child.”

As of right now, he is working as a lifeguard in Madison where he gets to save lives. More accurately, make sure people aren't running on wet concrete. He likes the responsibilities the job offers and enjoys keeping people safe and helping them when they need it. Nick also enjoys getting a rocking tan in the summertime from sitting outside all day. His favorite station while working is the diving board because it allows him to focus on fewer people. Watching the kids attempt tricks off the diving board is just an additional perk of the job.

Nicholas’s dream is to visit Norway. Not only does he find the culture to be intriguing, but his great grandma originated from Norway. To make traveling easier, he wishes that he had the super power of teleportation, allowing him to get to his destination in a quicker and cheaper way. Having this superpower would allow him to travel to many cities around the world, increasing his knowledge of other cultures.
