Senior Spotlight: Madison Townsend

Are you in the mood for a nice, hot pizza from Pizza Ranch-specifically a Tuscan Roma on thin crust? If so, make sure Mady is working. She’ll make you the best one you’ve had. It is her favorite pizza to make when working at the local Pizza Ranch.

Madison Mae Townsend was born in the booming town of Canton, South Dakota. Accompanied by her dad, Ryan; her mom, Amy; and her younger sister, Ava, Mady’s family made the move to Madison when she was in the first grade. 18-year-old Mady and her family now live in the lower west side of town, where Mady keeps her collection of Chacos sandals and spends her time singing and learning the dances to her favorite movie of all time, High School Musical 2. If Mady could live anywhere in the world, it would be in the quiet town of Ashville, North Carolina. What is her reasoning for this unusual choice? The town sits up high enough in elevation that there are no bugs to worry about.

Mady is known as a girl at school who is always positive and has something nice to say to everyone, but she is much more than that. While at school, Mady would describe herself as the macaroni noodle that somehow always ends up in your buttered noodles from Noodles and Co., which is her favorite food. Her energetic self is of little surprise to those who meet her. Mady has learned lots of things from Madison High School to help her out in the future, but the most important one is that “color coding your notes make you look like you know what’s going on.” After high school, Mady plans to attend Southeast Technical Institute in Sioux Falls. She is going to major in invasive cardiovascular technology, which sounds intense. Maybe while she is there, she can take up her lifelong dream of acting like Joey from Friends. According to Mady, “he really lives the life!” She might consider working as a greeter at Walmart but only if they get paid as much as a cardiologist.

When asked what one thing she would try if she could try anything and money was no object, Mady says she would go in one of those shark cages in the ocean. I think this really speaks to her character in showing her energetic attitude to try new things. Another thing that really speaks to the type of person Mady is, is that she would say that everyone should own a pair of Chacos. More specifically, Chacos with no toe strap so you can wear them in the winter as well as in the summer. Jokes on you, Dan Bounds, for telling Mady she couldn’t wear her sandals in the winter. Boy, was he wrong! All in all, Mady is more than just the girl at the front counter of Pizza Ranch. She is loved by all of those around her and is described by her friends as fun, enthusiastic, caring, and an overall good person to be around.
